Great first cartoon from learning toonboom. On top of that, love the joke at the end. Hopefully I can animate something before my trial ends. Good stuff

Nice new take for madnessday, good job for setting it in a western theme

Not only does this look good, but you got many things right to make it feel like a 16bit cutscene. It's got everything I expect to see when replicating an arcade style. Tweens such as the chain of bombs and using looping such as the explosion are some of the several techniques used in an arcade cutscene. On top of that you were able to combine frame by frame animation with pixel art very well. Props to taking a more serious tone in this cartoon then a comedic tone. Great Work yet again;)

TerminalMontage responds:

Thanks :) yeah, I tried to keep some things simple but I also wanted to have fun with it. So it wasn't just like an snes cutscene, but it was inspired by them!

Your innovation of animation is some of the best in the newgrounds community. Your sound effects match nicely with the characters actions and you always have an amazing vision on normal situations in life. Keep making those stories:)

Dude, that was pretty awesome. A kid believing anything moving in the dark is dangerous can come with great ideas for an animation. The monster with the lightbulb was great idea to come up with which also gives it a purpose(especially at the end of the short) instead of being there for the sake of being artsy. The only thing I have a problem with is that it should just ended with the kid finding the note and climbing back in the bed instead of showing the mother being the actual monster because it would have been open to interpretation instead of giving us the answer. Otherwise good job.

Big-Bad-Bombus responds:

I didn't originally have the credit sequence explaining the story (and I thought the story was pretty clear without the explanation), but during my critique a lot of people got confused as to what happened so I put that in there as a "Just in case you didn't get it he KILLED HIS MOM". But yeah I agree with you. I liked it better when the story was left with the impending thought of "oh shit did he kill his mom" and not "Welp, he killed his mom"

Without a doubt the best flash of February. Great job experimenting with the physics of each shape and adding more creativity in the next scene.

Awesome to take something that was retro, and bring more life to it then ever. Congrats on the flash.

I really enjoyed this. You gave personalities into objects we wouldn't expect to see that would have a personality and created a story out of it. Glad I saw this on Christmas eve.

JellowStudios responds:

Thank you! :)

This is a huge leap of improvement from your last flash. While I can't say that the story brought something new to the table, the animation and colors were just pure eye candy. You're skills would be perfect for studio yotta:)

Dieseling responds:

interestingly enough I just recently applied to join the studio! :)

This is one of the best flash cartoons of the year so far. You always made the characters move in a way that was different from the last which is very innovative for this style of cartoon. You brought some of the best voice actors for the job. But I really loved your vision for an afterlife at the end of the film. (If that's what you were going for). Congrats on the film as a whole
